What is the best material for making models?
I have a social exhibition coming around soon. I want to make A Model of any of the buildings or monuments in Rajasthan or Switzerland. Any ideas on what i should do and which material is best for making the models other than thermocole?
Most people who make architectural models for a living use cardboard, foamcore, paper, bass wood, pressed plastic model supplies and the various glues used to stick their particular material together. In my experience making models the quickest and easiest models are made from paper products. However, this depends on what the structure you’re trying to make looks like. I would stay away from thermocole, polystyrene products (outside of foamcore) tend to be messy and not very sturdy.
If you need to make a sculpture-like structure use sculpey or crayola model magic. Model magic has a much shorter working time but is great for making less detailed sculptures as it is extremely light and air dry. Sculpey will give you a much longer working time but must be baked for it to dry.
